Paramore has announced that they have cancelled the two remaining live dates on their North American tour.

On Thursday, August 10, the band took to social media to post a statement regarding the cancellations and address the health of frontwoman, Hayley Williams.

Sharing a text-based post to their 3.4 million Instagram followers, Paramore wrote: “After my lung infection forced us to postpone 4 shows, I was hoping a week off of performing and a strict medicine routine would allow my body to heal enough to finish off this tour strong.

“I have been doing everything I can to fight this infection so we wouldn’t have to disappoint anyone with more news of postponements and cancellations.”

The statement continued to say that the 34-year-old had consulted with her doctor, who told her that by continuing the tour she would be “risking long-term damage” to herself.

“With that in mind and with a heavy heart, we have to cancel our remaining shows in both Portland and Salt Lake City,” the three-piece announced.

After claiming that fans will be able to receive refunds at the point of purchase, the declaration said that Hayley “physically can not go on” before thanking fans for their “continued support”.

The show cancellations mean that the Misery Business singer and her bandmates Zac Farro and Taylor York will no longer be performing at Portland’s Memorial Coliseum tonight.

They will also miss their show at the Delta Centre in Salt Lake City on Sunday, August 13.

As well as the official statement posted via Paramore’s Instagram account, Hayley herself has taken to social media to apologise to disappointed music fans.

Appealing to her four million followers, the Decode singer wrote: “Hey everybody, we just got off stage in Seattle. After speaking with our team and my doc, I know that trying to finish this tour is now going to come at a detriment to my health.

“My lungs are just not healing quickly enough to keep up. It got a little scary tonight,” she admitted.

She closed the statement - posted via her Instagram stories - by saying that she was “so sorry for all the chaos this has caused some of you”.

Following the statements, many fans have also taken to social media to express their condolences and wish the American singer-songwriter well.

One said: “I speak for many of us when I say we would rather you heal up and be safe for the future than destroy yourself for a tour date. Anyone else that is guilting her/the band about how disappointed they are can kick rocks.”

A second agreed and wrote: “I’m so sad! My sister and I were looking forward to tonight. Make us your first stop next tour maybe?? Get well Hayley!!”

“Feeling a mixture or guilt, and so much gratitude that we saw you and the guys put on such a show last night. Sending hot soup. Growing up with you has been insane,” gushed another.

A fan who was at Paramore’s last show in Seattle has also rushed to the singer’s defence.

“I saw her in Seattle last night. She was amazing of course, but you could tell she was trying as hard as she could to push through, coughing and forcing her voice to hit those amazing notes we all know so well,” they claimed.

“Please take care of yourself, no show is worth the risk of damaging your voice or health!”

The trio have been on the road for the majority of 2023 and has been promoting their latest album, This Is Why.

As well as playing their own shows, the band have joined Taylor Swift on her Eras Tour and are scheduled to support the 33-year-old when she plays European tour dates next year.
