Award-winning music producer and composer Nitin Sawhney has given fans a health update following his third surgery after his recent heart attack. The acclaimed musician was forced to cancel a string of upcoming dates after being rushed to hospital for emergency surgery in early March.

The star, who produced three tracks on Rod Stewart and Jools Holland's number one album, Swing Fever, had blacked out after a getting a terrifying pain in his chest, only to wake up bleeding heavily after smashing his face into a coffee table. He appeared to be doing well in his latest update just seven weeks after the incident.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, he wrote to his 58.7 thousand followers: "Just to let you all know… I had my third and final heart operation today and it went very well :) I’m tired but feeling good… 7 weeks since my heart attack and it’s been a little journey…

"Because of wonderful care and the hard work of some great doctors and nurses, I was able to tour and after a little rest I’ll be back to my old self. Cheers (Don’t have a heart attack by the way. Not fun. Especially if you black out and collapse onto a glass ornament that shatters in your face… )"

He accompanied the post with four images which included one that appeared to be taken not long after the accident. In it he lay in a hospital bed and his face was covered in dried blood while he sported painful looking bruises on his arms.

Another image showed him posing with his mother on Mother's Day. He also included a photo announcing a show in Ally Pally.

The final image was a black and white shot of him on stage taking a bow with other musicians.

Although he has made it back on stage he has been forced to "defer" a string of tour dates, including a festival in the Australian city of Adelaide.

He had previously taken tothe social media platform to explain his health issues. "I was rushed to hospital and the NHS put a stent in one of the arteries leading to my heart, after which I was kept in to await a similar operation (which I was referring to in my quoted post) on another artery," he told fans.

Desscribing how it felt he wrote: "It’s a terrifying feeling. Your chest feels like someone is sitting on your chest holding a 200kg weight and your head feels like it’s spinning out of control as you struggle to remain conscious.

"In my case, I completely blacked out, falling onto a glass ornament from a standing position, smashing the coffee table with my face as I collapsed into a pool of blood and broken shards, penetrating both cheeks, my nose and the area just beneath my eyes.

"Later a plastic surgeon had to carefully remove pieces of glass from my face with tweezers after 4 injections to my face," he winced.

The composer added that his doctor had told him it was likely a "genetic predisposition".
