Italian model Eugenio Casnighi, who has worked as a greeter at the last two Met Galas, claims he has been fired for stealing Kylie Jenner’s spotlight at the 2023 bash.

The disgruntled former employee took to TikTok to air his grievances, adding that he had signed an NDA which previously prohibited him from speaking about his experience at the star-studded event.

On Saturday, he shared a video revealing he had been fired the day before, barely 72 hours before the gala.

He claimed the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and another company that he refused to mention, seek out models to work as greeters and celebrity helpers on the red carpet but that they had decided he was too eager to steal the spotlight.

The 26-year-old boldly declared: “They fired me because I went viral last year.”

Eugenio explained that last year he had been personally paired with Kylie Jenner to “help her the whole night, whatever she needed”.

Because of his duties to the socialite, the 26-year-old ended up in the background of a number of photos and videos throughout the night alleging that the company “blamed” him for being in frame and going viral.

He continued: “They said; ‘You made it about yourself so we don’t want to work with you anymore.’

Eugenio also claimed that just a month ago he had been confirmed to be working the red carpet this year, however, in a later video he also highlighted that there could be some behind-the-scenes changes he’s unaware of too.

He explained: “Every year is different so maybe this year they’re not even going to have models on the red carpet after what happened last year.”

To further prove his claims, the model shared texts and emails confirming how he had been fired, highlighting that he wasn't too upset about being fired but rather just found their reasons "funny".

The Italian hunk went viral last year for his candid looks alongside Kylie as well as his background appearance in Emma Chamberlain’s interview with Blackpink star Jennie Kim as one fan aptly captioned the snippet: “Trying to focus on Emma interviewing Jennie but …”

In one final clip, after some viewers began speculating that Kylie was behind Eugenio’s untimely firing, the model reassured The Kardashians star has been “nothing but nice” and “looked very beautiful in real life”.
