BBC Breakfast presenter, Carol Kirkwood, has spoken out after going missing from the daytime show. The Scottish host is normally on hand to let people know what the British weather will be like each day - but this week she wasn't in her normal post.

The 61-year-old decided to update her fans on her whereabouts as she posted to X (formerly Twitter). Sharing with her 255,000 followers, Carol said that she was holidaying in Cornwall.

She posted some pictures of her beautiful surroundings, including an image of a cute squirrel as she wrote: "Just visited Tresco (Isles of Scilly).

"@Hurtiagents To call it stunning doesn’t do it justice. Weather beautiful. Fell in love with the red squirrels."

Carol replied to a fan, who asked if she flew to the island on a chopper, as she said that she had sailed there. Her followers wished her well as they hoped that she enjoyed her break.

Fans were recently concerned for Carol's health as she appeared to be suffering with a sore throat. Matt Taylor and Sarah Keith-Lucas were forced to step in as she took a few days off from BBC Breakfast.

When she returned, fans were distracted and worried about her voice sounding "croaky".

One user posted to X (formerly Twitter), as they said: "@BBCBreakfast someone please give Carol a throat sweet, she sounds terrible."

Another added: "Good morning. You sounded a little croaky this morning. Hope you OK."

Meanwhile, a third joked: "Carol sounds like she's been on a mad one all weekend. This woman needs a Lemsip."

Before taking some time off, her co-stars applauded the weathercaster for making it through the show despite sounding rough.

BBC Breakfast airs daily at 6am on BBC One.
