Are you struggling to make ends meet?

FAMILIES were last night reeling from a devastating 35 per cent rise in gas bills – the biggest ever.

SREUGGLING TO MAKE ENDS MEET?

24.08.08, 4:28am

It makes my blood boil........what is going on?...all these profits the energy firms are making and the government also.....just so the little man at the end foots the bill.
The wars were fought for the children and their children, to have the NHS , education and housing. For what?....all the foreigners to just come and take...i feel sorry for our OAP's they went through hell for this country and look how the country repays them, they are struggling along with others..its diabolical. Britain is a dumping ground where is the british spirit???..make a stand, dont take it!!!

YES, I AM

11.08.08, 2:41am

and it winds me up to see the new British Gas adverts, saying these are keeping the prices down.

That the the new streamer ads on the top of the page here, and down the side telling me I can save 200 quid.

What a nerve. They should be done under the Trades Description Act for fraud and lies.

If they cut the adverts out, they wouldn't need to charge us poor peasants so much.

YOU CAN'T TOP YOURSELF WITH NATURAL GAS LORNA.

08.08.08, 10:55am

I once attended in incident where a man tried to commit suicide by putting his head in a gas oven. After half an hour of not succeeding, he lit a fag and blew himself up.

WOULD BE

07.08.08, 9:06pm

struggling to make ends meet on my old age pension if I and my husband had not paid into private pension schemes, although it is not a lot it really helps to ease the worry a bit. Just been informed by our electric/gas supplier that our monthly payment for both is to increase from £110 to £240 - they will be lucky. Have been in contact and they say 'we are sorry there has been a mistake', so I should coco. Could have caused a serious health problem. If they were correct then the gas stove would have come in handy!!!!!

NOPE

06.08.08, 11:22pm

Still no Brussels activity in here.

I guess that's the non-Bulldog spirit shining through.

Mind you the vitriolic responses don't last long enough to be read so what does it matter? I know people lash out when they're scared but...

PHEW!

05.08.08, 9:36am

I can now, sleep easy at night knowing the professionals are in charge of our Green and Pleasant Land of Hope and Glory, set in a silver sea.

Petrol will revert to five shillings a gallon, AA patrolmen will salute cars showing the badge, villains caught will confess to their crime, coppers will give scrotes the choice of a good pasting or go to court, we will be able to buy a pint of beer for one and six and "Something for the weekend, Sir" for three and ninepence.

Although, in those days kids weren't kept at home due to the fear of knife crime but they were prevented from going out on hot summer days for fear of contracting polio.

HARVEFMIFF

Notwithstanding the highly irritating Bradford and Bingley 'oh my god we're broke' advert pop-up, I sympathise with the sleepless nights.

But rejoice indeed as fuel is dropping by about 10p a litre and crude should be back around $100 a barrel by December. Guess who's got his fuel duty slide-rule out again.

Well you have to recoup your, sorry our, £24bn somehow.

Following the example of Winnie and Maggie, I see. They only required a couple of hours sleep. Me, I have to have a good sleep however, I have been lying awake lately worrying about rising fuel bills and the cost of Havanas.

With regards the time, I was not the person trying to claim that I wasn't here for serious debate as a way of trying to worm out of the questions asked.

I've always required very little sleep, 3-4 hours usually sees me through

04.08.08, 10:46am

A bit late for me. I need my beauty sleep after a couple of large glasses of Isle of Islay malt to celebrate the the departure of Sunday with all that religious observance.

Yes I am struggling to make ends meet, the price of Cohibas have gone up.

DON'T BE BASHFUL

04.08.08, 2:03am

You've already proved your presence here is based more on need than amusement (otherwise what reason would you be on the net at 0050h on a Monday morning) so please benefit us all with your superior knowledge and answer the questions.

Given your stunning lack of knowledge regarding a continent you supposedly lived on i'm guessing you'll just make your vacuous presence felt in other threads?

And that's the best you can do Brussels? More personal abuse and contrite opinion?

How about you answer the questions posed? Or are you too infatuated with your socialist leanings that you only offer the same repeated messages and cannot comprehend the questions asked of you?

AND SO

03.08.08, 10:08pm

It would seem that being slightly in advance you've seen what i have not. It kind of sums the point up really when a poster tries to imply that the same predelictions are ongoing as something well before my time.

Thanks for the reply though, it is interesting to learn about what went before.
