Can somebody please tell me why all we are doing is complaining?.....Brits are being ripped off to cover the french energy market, the spanish are in contol of aviation, almost all the counrties in europe have a piece of britain.....and who is footing the bill.....the british taxpayer!
Where has the great country gone who produced great cars, had their own oil rigs etc etc....we were once the envy of the world now we are just a joke. We are being ripped apart piece by piece by different countries and whats worse we have a foreigner leading our country....right.down the swanny!!!!!

The headline may be correct but I have recently changed from EDF to a UK based supplier and am now facing 16% plus increases in electricity prices(I don't have a gas supply where I live) so nobody is imune. Our oil and gas from the North Sea has been sold to the highest bidder and now we are all stuffed. Long live privatisation and the free market!

just like every other ex national owned company- water - gas - electricity - rail. unless we go back to state owned utilities then this will continue forever. i we stopped paying out lawyers defending failed asylum seekers/foreign criminals we could buy back a utility yearly

But they DONT rip off French Families cos the French Government will not let them raise their prices beyond the Inflation rate around 3.5%.

The Spanish Government and the Portuguese Also place a cap at rthe inflation rate.

The British New Labour Government ? Well they dont give a damn and they do $od all to cap price hikes for the people of Britain.

If you had a query with the gas or electricty bill, you walked straight into their shop and discussed it with someone in authority, who spoke the Queen's English and sorted the problem out there and then.

If I have a problem that cannot be sorted by a reasonable phone call, I enquire at Companies House and find the number of the Chairman or company secretary and then politely but very assertively, tell them the problem. I don't go through customer services but I let the boss put me through to them as I now know; and more importantly, the bureaucrat now knows, their boss knows.

Failing that, there is the Consumer Association, this newspaper, or the CAB. I am also a subscriber of Which? which is also a coincidence as my wife is a white witch.

I don't get the deleted posts either. I can't remember saying anything *that* dreadful that it would warrant being removed.

There are some posters on these threads purposely baiting people though.

Re the topic, and the clipboard merchants at the front door....

I fell foul of that when I first moved into my current house. It took ages to get out the the previous owners contract, and she also had an over 55 contract set up to follow on from that.

What a pallaver! Wasn't it far better when we had one electricity supplier and one gas supplier?

So much for 'Tell Sid'. I hope the utilities are re-nationalised (some hope), and we can perhaps have a price cap like the French Government have for the French people.

Makes sense, but there again what do our Government know about sense?

Nearly everybody has been deleted. You cannot put a highly controversial subject like this up on the forums without posters who have highly controversial opinions.

It does not matter what power company you switch to, it all works out the same in the long run and therefore, you may as well remain with the provider you have had for donkeys years. Don't you just hate those smarmy blokes that come round to you house telling you that you are on the most expensive tariff and their company will save you loads of dosh and if you don't change, you must be stupid.

What amazes me is precisely how much they already know about you on their clipboards. So much for keeping you details secret.

it is capitalism and the free market in action. the french have a more rewgulated system. it is likely that a year ago, we were paying less than them. now we pay more. swings and roundabouts.

have a regulated system, not a fully privatised free market system like us.

if you believe in capitalism, then you believe in the free market, then you have no right to complain.

sometimes degregulation, privatisation and the free market work for you, sometimes it works against you.

you take the good
you take the bad
you take them both
and there you have
the facts of life!

at least, thats what mature people do.
