Could someone please explain to me why we have to go back to Greenwich Mean Time in the autumn every year?

Mid-day occurs when the sun is at its highest. At this point the shadows are the shortest (it can be dangerous to sunbathe if your shadow is shorter than you). Currently our mid day occurs at 1:00pm. At this time, incidentally, the shadow faces north. We need to put our clocks back an hour,now, today, then just leave it like that. We just need to learn to live with it. Adapt and adjust.

CONSERVATIVE MANEFESTO ???

It would show some honesty from the Conservatives... they forgot to mention in the last manefesto that they would be getting all their MEP's to send their EPP political Allowences in Europe to the YES TO LISBON TREATY CAMPAIGN" in Ireland..

As the recent Express polls have shown... Britain wants out of europe. we have held them back politically for too long and we have bankrupted our own British people and raided our Gold reserves in the process of paying for the superstate manufacture...in a process that was never honestly agreed with the British people.
European time is running out for the Britian in europe idea...it ran out for the Conservatives a long time ago... I'm giving UKIP a chance next time.It will make such a change to see a party that puts the British first.

The clocks change in Europe at the same time as they do in the UK!!! What is this nonsense about 2 hours difference in the winter?

Honestly, with the state the world is in today, have people nothing else to worry about? Having said that, I see nothing wrong in adopting Continental Europe time. Whenever I go back to the UK I feel as though I am stepping into the dark ages. Firstly I have to put my watch back an hour, and then I have to ditch my Euros for English money. "Why do we have to do this Mummy" my children cry "It´s stupid". Indeed it is.

MID DAY IS NOT MID DAY

For the majority of people noon is NOT mid day.

Mid day is somewhere near 3 p.m. on our ridiculous time system.

I do not give a damn where the zero meridian is, but I do care when it is broad daylight at 5 a.m. and getting dark at nine p.m.

This article has my total support.

EU CENTRAL TIME

I robustly disagree with thrust of this article.

The only reason for the creation of European Central Time was the fact that it was not GMT.

If the Prime meridian passed through Paris, ECT would not exist, it would of course be PMT instead, (no comment).

The French always wanted the prime meridian, they still do. But if they can't have it they want to degrade its' significance for us and of course they are still after world domination. They have the weights and measures, and are working hard for the European official language, and don't forget; they drive on the right because we drive on the left. Give them the time of day as well? I don't think so.

Remember that GMT is the real time. When the suns' at the top it's midday. If you don't like the dark mornings we could all start work/school at 10am instead of nine. But what ever you do you have to be at work for eight hours or so, so it'll be dark at one end or the other.

Everything about Britain is being eroded. Even the English Channel is going, and do our politicians mind? not a bit; they welcome it.

It's not us that is out of line with Europe. It is them that is out of line with the turning earth.

Even if we were out of line; WHOOPEE-do
