THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE, IF THEY CHARGE AND COLLECT COUNCIL TAXES THEY HAVE SOME OBLIGATION TO CLEAR THE RUBBISH
31.08.08, 11:39pm
If the Council charge and collect taxes for clearing the rubbish, they have a molral obligation and duty to clear the same. If they can not do the same, some alternative arrangements should be made with able and willing companies to do the said job for the benefit of residents.
If the Council charge and collect taxes, they have a moral duty and obligation for clearing the rubbish from residents. If they can not do the same, some alternative arrangements should be made with able and willing companies to do the said job for the benefit of residents.
Also encourage some private companies to collect rubbish from a particular area and see how it works and if it is successful necessary action and arrangements should be taken by the concerned authorities to implement the same every where.

WE CAN'T EMPTY YOUR BIN

If I can take my bin from the back of my house where it normally resides to the kerb fronting my house then there is no excuse for bin men half my age to collect it. Sack the lazy Bas****s, I would be happy to do the job to suppliment my (heavily taxed ) pension,.

the person in charge of this decision should be sacked, can he/she not realise this rule will be a health risk/hazard to pedestrians, lets hope there is an accident caused by avoiding these bins stuck in the middle of the kerb and they sue the council for ŁTHOUSANDS and then maybe this **** stupid bin collection can get back to normal weekly collections picked up from the residents property

WE CAN'T EMPTY YOUR BIN

The easy answer is 'we can't pay your poll tax'. There aren't enough places in jail for all the people who could make the gesture of non payment of local taxes. Let the Stasis try to take us all to court for our refusal to pay for services that we are not receiving. They can't put us all in jail.
Me? I'm still trying to get the morons who empty our bins to put them back where they were placed instead of either putting them 20 yards down the road in the middle of someone else's driveway, or throwing them onto the floor. Either way, the same amount of rubbish seems to find its way onto the footpath and the road.
There is no point, either, in complaining to the local Kremlin, because all you will get in return is a letter justifying council policy towards waste disposal. This letter having been written by one of the government's drones, of course.

"Clever, these Chinese." Now that Mao has gone, they need to produce more female babies to balance their population because at the moment, China is overflowing with testosterone, as well as all our rubbish.

You are saying that China is using our resources 1st and foremost and then when ours are running low....wham bam. They have resources galore and the world will be at their feet. Good plan !

China is not 'desperate' for world resources. They merely have a strategy that will ensure their future. The world's largest abundance of natural gas, tin and coal. Third largest for copper, bauxite and magnesium. Fourth largest oil reserves. All completely untapped. Don't get me wrong, they know its there. But at the minute it is prudent for them to absorb the waste of the world and keep what they have in reserve. Do you think Gordon knows what reserves are? (by which i mean a back-up rather than something to flog off at its lowest value in decades and shortly before it booms again)
I now, as a matter of course, take my recycling directly to the recycling bins in the local supermarket car-park. In these days of credit crunches, why should my local recycling firm suffer the expedeture of buying raw material from greedy local government? I give to them directly and help the economy along in my own way.

Try it
The price of many metals is sky high at the moment
All going to China I think
China will even take mixed rubbish ie mixture of plastic and metals .
They are desperate for world resources.
If Reubens donkey has a rein and bit I would remind him to keep his eye on it ....or China will have it !

SCRAP, RECYCLING OR GOLD DUST? DEPENDS WHO YOU ASK.
16.08.08, 10:32pm
I saw a report recently that the value of recycled material is now so high that councils can selll it on and make a big fat profit. This means that in some cases, councils are excavating old landfill sites and digging out re-saleable materials. Effectively they have found a gold mine which is proving a nice little earner.
So why make all this fuss about picking it up?
Why tell us it costs them money? That is actually untrue.
If they can make a profit out of our garbage, they should actually be paying US for the privilege of picking it up.
Perhaps we should go to ur friendly local scrap merchant, sell it direct and take the profit for ourselves.

They should also have stamped on them 'Not suitable for consumption' or (especially in todays posturing political climate) 'Not to be used as a radioctive shelter in the event of nuclear war'.
This is not an H&S excercise.
Councils don't want to collect the bins - it costs them money (much more important to keep that to pay for gold plated pensions) - they are working on the principle if they make it too complicated and too difficult we will submit to paying for private refuse collection. Will we see our council tax charges reduce accordingly? - I have this vague suspicion that won't happen.
Anybody want to call me a cynic?

How the council could forgot to issue an important H&S note with the Wheelie Bins.

FLY TIPPING IS THE ANSWER

What is the point in trying to second-guess petty rules and bureaucracy? If they want to play silly with us, we will not play by their rules.
We will forget about the system that USED to exist and we will just stuff our rubbish in the boot, drive down a nice dark road and dump it in the street.
They WILL come and pick it up and they will not be able to fine us either (because they will not see us doing it).
