Bag of grass ‘too heavy’ for binmen

WHEN seven stone Mia Cousins carried her grass cuttings from the back garden to the roadside, it hardly needed an Olympic effort.

I RETIRE DEFEATED.

20.08.08, 10:31pm

Thanks a bunch, now you've made me feel like last year's headlines, on ice. Best wishes to you all though!!.

CAN WE GET THIS STUPID CENSORSHIP SORTED?.

20.08.08, 10:29pm

With regards to Martyn's article, the whole thing's a load of rubbish. Europeans take note - we're going to 'elf and safety the lot of you. We have to do what you say, now you take note of our wishes. Become stupid like us then all will be fair. Now, how is it that Martyn's article can put together three letters with total impunity yet we can't?. I refer to "ay" "es" and "es". Any innocent word that contains these letters in sequence gets the squirt. come on, Express, you're a right wing 'paper, don't let the idiot left have laugh. Get onto the computer programmer and sort it. It's getting silly. Let's see what PASSES with these silly ASSES, are they boys or LASSES?.

WHAT A LOT OF SISSIES

20.08.08, 4:11pm

What a lot of sissies our dustbin men have become. Whatever happened to the cheerful men who used to collect our dustbins every week no matter how many or how full without complaint. It is a tough job for tough men and if this namby pamby lot find it too much for them they should get another job. There are probably some going in ladies hairdressing.

THIS IS NOT RUBBISH!

20.08.08, 2:41pm

Gr**** cuttings are not rubbish and should be recycled our disposed of by the person concerned, have you not heard of mulching the cuttings back into the lawn.
This is a good example of the British attitude that the state should be there to pander to everyones needs, get a life !.

TIME TO SUE

20.08.08, 11:30am

Perhaps its time for householders to start and sue Councils for breach of contract. They make a contract by virtue of charging council tax which also covers removal of refues from houses. In some cases these are private companies who are on contract to the council so two they to should be sued. and the council made to sack their choice of arrangements.

BAG OF GR**** ' TOO HEAVY ' FOR BIN MEN.

20.08.08, 10:28am

Lackadaisical Britain, Binmen are just the tip of the iceberg ! DIshes, plates, empty glasses, lay dirty on tables in restaraunts, hotels, in many towns whatever, the length and breadth of our land. The staff are stood around chatting nonsense, in splendid superiority ! Totally oblivious to thier surroudings. UK, in general I'm afraid.

WEEDY BINMEN

20.08.08, 10:05am

She should put it in her car and take it to the tip.THEN send a debit note to the council (along with a photo of her lifting it) for £25 to cover the cost of her time, fuel, etc. and then deduct this from her next rate payment. She has already paid for the service she hasn't received. These people are employed by us and should perform accordingly.
Is it Health and safety or laziness?

G R A S S !

20.08.08, 9:54am

There, said it ! I Think !

DM, what is wrong with the word 'green'? I know we the Great British Public are sick to death of the word and all its tax implications, but I didn't think it had actually become a swear word yet.
About time we started swearing at our binmen and our pathetic councils. WE pay them, both the binmen and the councils, its about time THEY started doing what WE want.

NEW WASTE DISPOSAL ACT

20.08.08, 7:07am

A new waste disposal act is required. One that is not devolved. One that is NATIONWIDE, with the same set of rules for everyone. The right of Councils to decide upon their own waste disposal systems should be removed. In my area we have a tall green wheelie bin for gr**** cuttings and garden waste, so here, this problem would not have arisen.
If we had one nationwide system, everyone would know the standards and we could all work towards a common goal.
The bureaucrats are becoming obsessed by rubbish bins, and WE are letting them. WE are doing nothing about it. They need to remember that an election is not so very far away.

BIN THE WIMPS

20.08.08, 7:03am

Perhaps this appeasing council should employ men in future and all should be reminded that ultimately it is the taxpayer providing them with employment, a salary and ultimately a pension. Some things just have to be earned these days.

SO THE GR**** CLIPPS WEIGHT OVER 45 POUNDS, DO THEY?

20.08.08, 6:22am

And how do the binmen know this? Were they weighed? If they were, they had to have been lifted onto a scale.

It seems to this writer the H&S could put their Gestapoistic efforts to better use trying to stamp out the causes of MRSA infections in the health system. Their title, after all, does include the word "Health" or is that simply window dressing?

Instead, they seems perfectly happy causing the common folk to receive criminal records and to push those same members of the public to commit acts of violence when pushed to the edge.

BAG OF GR**** ‘TOO HEAVY’ FOR BINMEN

20.08.08, 2:14am

I remember before all this malarky started, i could have a good laugh and joke with the refuse collectors in the street as they went about their work. NOW, though they are surly and look on people with the contempt that their superiors do.
Tail is wagging the dog, here and its about time the dog was "put down" and a bit of civil insurrection came into play
