IS Shane Richie finding it hard to get over his ex-wife Coleen Nolan?
The television star, who split from the singer 10 years ago after nine years of marriage, stunned audience members at a recent comedy gig by making jibes about his ex.
Richie, 45, was the compere for a Friends of the Earth benefit show, Livestock, and shared the stage with comedians Stephen Merchant, Jimmy Carr and Richard Herring but his jokes steered towards Nolan who divorced him after discovering he had had a long-term affair with actress Claire Tyler.
Since their split, Nolan, 44, has gone on to land a job as a panellist on topical women’s chat show Loose Women, and reunited with her Seventies pop band The Nolans for a UK tour.
Richie’s acting career rose to primetime glory when he played Alfie Moon in BBC soap Eastenders for three years until 2005 but has since failed to land a role as strong and now presents game show Don’t Forget The Lyrics.
“I only watch Loose Women to see what I’m up to,” joked Richie. “We weren’t a compatible couple. She was a Pisces, I was a d***head.”
The former Pontin’s Bluecoat who married dancer Christie Goddard in 2007 and has a son, Mackenzie Blue, three, and a one-year-old daughter Lolita Bell, also cheekily sung the opening of the Nolans’ biggest hit I’m In The Mood For Dancing during the show, held at London’s Hammersmith Apollo.
During their marriage, the couple had two children, Shane, 21 and Jake, 16.
Earlier this year, Nolan claimed Richie was still chasing money from his time supporting her group on tour in the Eighties. She said: “He says that we still owe him money for when he supported us in Dartford – he has never quite got over it!”
