WAYNE MARDLE'S HOLIDAY RETREAT HITS THE BULL'S-EYE
Darts player Wayne Mardle

WITH his passion for Hawaiian shirts, you might think darts star Wayne Mardle's choice of holiday home would be on the paradise island which inspired the creators of Avatar.
But no. Darts pro Wayne Mardle and his wife Donna prefer to remain a bit closer
to home. In fact, the Mardles have opted to buy a new caravan at The
Orchards Holiday Village, near Clacton-on-Sea, Essex.
At £26,000, the new three-bedroom home is a snip compared to almost anything similar in the South Pacific.
Not to mention the fact that it's a lot easier to get to. The site is a
short drive from the Mardles' home in Romford, which means the couple
can make good use of it when Wayne, a favourite on the darts circuit
for crowd-pleasing antics such as dancing to interval music, isn't
competing in international tournaments.
Wayne (right) opted to buy the caravan after visiting a friend at the
Haven Holidays site last year when it rekindled his interest in
down-to-earth holidays. He said: "I used to have a caravan about 15
years ago but gave it up. It was only when we went to see a pal who has
a caravan that we started thinking about it again.
"The difference in facilities and activities now at The Orchards is extraordinary."
They include a nine-hole golf course, go-karts and heated indoor and
outdoor pools as well as an all-weather bowling green and well-stocked
fishing lakes.
Prices for a Haven holiday home range from £15,000 to around £100,000,
and there are 34 parks in the UK to choose from. Properties come with
fully-fitted kitchens, well designed storage and spacious lounge and
dining areas.
