Maverick chef Keith Floyd is set to start a new life in the Far East after learning he is to lose his French home following a bitter divorce.

Pals say Floyd, 64, who is reportedly being forced to sell his house in Provence and hand more than 70 per cent of the proceeds over to his ex-wife Tess, is set to relocate to Thailand, where he has a restaurant, Floyd’s Brasserie.

He is also understood to be paying his fourth wife more than £50,000, plus costs, following a High Court ruling.
“The divorce is hitting Keith hard financially and it now makes sense for him to spend more time in Thailand where he has business interests,” an insider explains. “Keith enjoys the life over there and is treated well.”

Floyd is understood to have recently travelled to the Thai island of Phuket, where his culinary establishment is based.
It’s been a torrid year for the wine-quaffing TV chef. As well as his much-publicised split from his fourth wife, he was in intensive care at the beginning of the year after collapsing at a pal’s pub in Stoke-on-Trent.

“Keith will always come back to the UK when work requires but he can have a better quality of life in Thailand,” says a pal. “It’s been a very rough year for him and he needs some kind of fresh start.”
