Bananas tend to go brown faster than other fruits like apples, grapes, or oranges. 

Luckily, there are different methods out there to keep your bananas fresh until you’re ready to use them.

Hanging bananas from a hook can slow down the ripening process due to ethylene gas release. This method also prevents bruising on the counter as the bananas continue to ripen. 

You can use a fruit basket with a built-in hook or a small under-cabinet hook specifically designed for bananas, says Taste Of Home.

Regardless of the method, it is recommended to keep your bananas at room temperature while they ripen on the hook.

To store bananas in the fridge, wait until they reach your desired ripeness and then place them inside.

Remember to keep them away from items like onions.

If your bananas become overripe and you do not plan to consume them, you can peel them and freeze them for later use.
