popular Pixel 3 could be rebooted today with a new device that's set to please many fans of this Android device.

The US technology firm is hosting its yearly I/O event in California and rumours are rife that, along with plenty of software news, there will be some important updates to hardware.

Top of the bill could be a new Pixel 3a and 3a XL which many are expecting to be revealed to the world later tonight.

So why are these such exciting phones?

Although there's no confirmation of a launch or specs there's been a swathe of leaks which show why so many Google fans will be excited by the new Pixel 3a.

Perhaps the best thing could be how much they will cost with Google expected to release these call makers with prices starting from under £380.

If true, this would be a huge reduction over the Pixel 3's original cost and will make these devices more affordable for those who want a Google phone.

And don't think that low price means poor specs and cheap build quality as that might not be the case.

In fact, it seems that these phones will look very similar to their more expensive flagship siblings with a design that appears almost identical.

Judging by pictures posted by technology expert, Evan Blass, it could be hard to tell the difference between the cheaper and more expensive range.

Along with that classic styling, another rumour is that the 3a will also get Google's market-leading rear camera which now includes the fabulous Night Sight mode.

This setting allows the Pixel to shoot photos in almost total darkness without the need for a flash.

Under the hood of the 3a could be some fairly impressive specs including a Qualcomm processor.

A recent leak from Droid Life is also speculating that the 3a will pack a 3,000mAh battery whilst the XL gets a 3,700mAh power pack.

The larger phone may also get a 6-inch screen which compares to a 5.6-inch panel on the standard 3a.

One final rumour is these devices will arrive in colours including white, purple and black.

Google launches brand new Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL

To add fuel to the fire Google has even teased fans about an impending launch.

On its online store, the US technology firm posted a message which says, "something big is coming to the Pixel universe".

Such a date would clearly fall in line with the I/O developer conference.

Express.co.uk will be bringing you all the news from this keynote with things expected to get underway at around 6pm tonight GMT.
