Microsoft has pushed out another update for its Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 devices

Microsoft has today pushed-out a sizeable update for its first laptop – the Surface Book – as well as the Surface Pro 4.

The firmware update fixes an infuriating glitch that caused the device not to wake properly after it was set to sleep mode.

Express.co.uk – dubbed "the ultimate laptop" by the Redmond technology firm – earlier this year.

Owners of Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book have experienced a number of issues, including power management issues when the device is asleep.

Corporate Vice President for Surface Computing at Microsoft, Panos Panay promised a fix for the issues back in February.

Unfortunately the subsequent update made the issues worse for some users, with a number of Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 owners left unable to wake their devices from sleep.

The latest update should fix the issues once and for all.

Microsoft has included updates to more than a dozen different drivers in the new firmware update.

The US technology firm says the update should resolve screen flickering and "cases where the display does not reinitialise correctly after the device resumes from sleep or hibernation".

Gamers should also see a bump in performance, thanks to an update for Nvidia's GeForce GPU. Windows Hello should be a little more stable following the firmware update, too.

Unlike the Surface Book, the Surface Pro 4 also gets an update that promises to improve wifi signal strength when connecting to a 5GHz access point.

Microsoft has previously stated an ambition to get one billion devices across the globe running Windows 10 within two years of the operating system's release.
