Royal crisis: Meghan and Harry 'shedding light on circus' could 'pull down whole house'
MEGHAN MARKLE and Prince Harry's explosive Oprah interview could "pull down" the Royal Family as they "shed light on the circus", according to an anti-monarchy campaigner.
Meghan Markle’s Oprah interview is ‘damaging’ says expert
Meghan and Harry went against the royal grain by sharing damaging details about the monarchy. Meghan revealed that working for The Firm left her feeling that ending her life was an option as she did not have a voice. She also claimed the monarchy had double standards when it came to handling negative press stories, as they failed to protect the Sussexes but lied to defend other members of the Royal Family.
Their bombshell interview was aired last night on CBS in the US on Sunday and will be shown on ITV at 9pm tonight.
Graham Smith, the CEO of Republic, warned the couple's revelations could pose an "existential crisis" for the Royal Family as they traditionally keep everything "hidden away".
He told Express.co.uk: "The biggest problem with the monarchy is that it can only survive when shrouded by secrecy and spin.
"If politicians get it wrong we can get rid of individuals without pulling the whole house down.
"If royals get it wrong, we’re either stuck with them or the whole lot has to go.
"So they hide everything away as much as possible, and that causes problems that build up over years.
"That’s all changing now Harry and Meghan are freed from the circus and clearly keen to shed some light on what happens at the palace.
"This could pose an existential crisis for the royals.

"The royals are never told no and know they’ll never be held accountable. That’s a recipe for a toxic work environment for any of their staff."
When asked by Oprah if she was thinking of self-harm and having suicidal thoughts at some stage, Meghan said: "Yes. This was very, very clear.
"Very clear and very scary. I didn't know who to turn to in that."
Harry added he could not talk to his family about needing to get help for Meghan.

He said: "That's just not a conversation that would be had.
"I guess I was ashamed of admitting it to them. And I don't know whether they've had the same feelings or thoughts. I have no idea.
"It's a very trapping environment that a lot of them are stuck in."
When Meghan brought up the subject of Archie's skin colour causing "concern", Oprah looked visibly shocked when she found out it had been raised by a member of the Royal Family with Harry.
She said: "That was relayed to me from Harry, those were conversations the family had with him, and I think it was really hard to be able to see those as compartmentalised conversations."
But Meghan did not give a name, as she said: "I think that would be very damaging to them."
Harry added: "That conversation, I am never going to share. At the time it was awkward, I was a bit shocked."
He also said he was "not comfortable" sharing the question he was asked by the unnamed person, but said it happened "right at the beginning" of their relationship.
Oprah confirmed today that Meghan told her it was not the Queen or Prince Philip who made the racist comment about how dark their baby's skin would be.
Oprah told CBS This Morning: "He did not share the identity with me but he wanted to make sure I knew, and if I had an opportunity to share it, that it was not his grandmother or grandfather that were part of those conversations.
"He did not tell me who was a part of those conversations.”
Harry was critical about the financial support he received from family too.
He said they "literally cut me off financially" in the first part of 2020 after stepping down as a senior royal.
This resulted in the couple getting Netflix and Spotify deals to pay for their security.
He said he had what Diana left him and "without that we would not have been able to do this".
Harry also revealed she felt "trapped" while in the monarchy, and so were other family members.
He said: "My father and my brother, they are trapped. They don't get to leave."
The Royal Family has not commented on Meghan and Harry's claims.
