King Charles III's decision to evict Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from Frogmore Cottage was like "ripping off a band aid", royal sources have claimed. The decision to evict the couple was revealed on Wednesday, with a spokesperson for the Sussexes confirming the news.

The decision to ask the Sussexes to vacate the 5-bed property was reportedly difficult for the King, with the 74-year-old keen to not add fuel to the already-lit fire.

Royal sources recently told the Mail that the King has found the breakdown of his relationship with Harry "extremely painful".

The bombshell memoir, along with the recent Netflix docu-series, the King and his staff felt that they had no choice but to act, leading to the eviction.

Discussing about the process, which happened within 24 hours of the book release, a source claimed: "It was felt that it would be like ripping off a band aid. Painful, but once it's done, it's done."

The King's decision seemingly suggests that the relationship between Prince Harry and the Royal Family is at an all-time low.

Meghan and Harry's unofficial biographer Omid Scobie described Frogmore Cottage as "the only place left that’s safe" for them and their children to reside in when they come to the UK.

During the family-of-four's visit to the UK for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations last June, they barely left the Windsor Estate. This was due to the fact that they are no longer granted police protection.

The couple reportedly have just weeks to vacate the Windsor property.

Sources told Mr Scobie that they are expected to have moved their belongings out by "early summer".

The couple lived in the property for six months prior to their move out of the UK.

They shared the home with their son Archie, who was not even a year-old when the couple decided to part from the Royal Family.

Proving that their relationship has been rocky for some time, a source told Us Weekly in May 2021 that Charles "may never forgive Harry", following his claims in the Oprah Winfrey interview.

Despite this, speaking recently prior to the news of the eviction, royal expert Angela Levin said that the King would always "have an open home" for the Duke of Sussex, adding that the King has "always loved" his son.
