King Charles and Queen Camilla's new photo to mark the reigning monarch's return to royal duty was taken by a photographer admired by Princess Kate.

The heartwarming image of Charles and Camilla smiling broadly and walking arm-in-arm in Buckingham Palace Gardens was taken by royal portrait photographer, Millie Pilkington.

In front of a pretty backdrop of luscious green lawns and colourful bushes and trees, Ms Pilkington wonderfully captured a touching moment between the King and Queen.

Ms Pilkington is famous for having taken private photographs of the Prince and Princes of Wales on their wedding day on April 29, 2011 and has stated the royal wedding was the "turning point" in her career - a day she describes as "magical" and "terrifying" according to fashion website, Sheerluxe.

In a positive statement, the Palace has announced the King is set to return to duties following the success of his cancer treatment after his health diagnosis earlier this year.

Commenting on King Charles's recovery, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson said: "His Majesty's medical team are very encouraged by the progress made so far and remain positive about the King's continued recovery."

Ms Pilkington is known as one of Princess Kate's most trusted photographers and also took Prince William's beaming Father's Day snap, released last year by Kensington Palace.

The occasion was marked by a sweet photo of the Prince alongside his three children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, six. George and Charlotte were looking up at their father and a young Louis wrapped his arms over William's shoulders.

Millie also captured Prince Louis's fifth birthday photos released in April 2023 - which beautifully captured a young Prince in a woolly jumper sitting on a pile of grass in a wheelbarrow while his mum, Princess Kate, playfully pushed him around laughing with her youngest.

The avid royal photographer also captured an important milestone for the future heir to the throne, taking Prince George's casual birthday pictures in Windsor - the young Prince had turned 10 on July 22, 2023.

But while she's a favourite photographer for Princess Kate, she's not known for regularly snapping Charles and Camilla - who most regularly use another royal photographer, Hugo Burnand.

His Majesty, the King will shortly return to public-facing duties after a period of treatment and recuperation following his recent cancer diagnosis.‌

To help mark this milestone, both Charles and Camilla will make a joint visit to a cancer treatment centre next Tuesday, where they will meet medical specialists and patients in the first of a number of external engagements His Majesty will undertake in the weeks ahead.

As the first anniversary of the Coronation of King Charles approaches, the Palace revealed their Majesties remain deeply grateful for the many kindnesses and good wishes they have received from around the world throughout the joys and challenges of the past year.

Meanwhile, Princess Kate continues to step away from public-facing duties as she undergoes treatment for her cancer diagnosis and is on the path to recovery.
