Meghan Markle’s popularity rating has gone up in the US and is equal to that of King Charles - but Princess Kate is still the favourite, according a new poll.

Redfield & Wilton polled 1,500 eligible voters on behalf of Newsweek to determine public attitudes to the British royals.

The Duchess of Sussex was liked by 36 percent of adults and disliked by 24 percent, giving her a net approval rating of plus 12.

In February, she was liked by 31 percent and disliked by 30 percent, giving her a net approval rating of plus one.

The Duchess has seen a significant increase in polling numbers, but even so, Princess Kate holds the top spot.

The Princess of Wales was viewed positively by 45 percent and negatively by 13 percent of US adults, giving her a net approval rating of plus 32.

This shows a drop of three points compared to February, when she was on plus 35.

According to Newsweek’s Jack Royston, Meghan has always lagged behind Prince William, Princess Kate and Prince Harry, so this “popularity bump will be welcomed.”

It’s not clear what caused this influx, but Mr Royston suggests it may have something to do with Meghan’s new lifestyle brand, saying: “It will represent something of a new direction after mixed results from her initial move into the world of TV producing and podcasting.”

Prince Harry is currently in the UK for the Invictus Games 10-Year Anniversary, with a reception taking place at St Paul’s Cathedral in London, but Meghan did not make the trip. Dr Pauline Maclaran spoke to Daily Express US exclusively, saying Meghan most likely decided to stay home because she is hugely unpopular in the UK.

The last time Harry and Meghan were at St Paul’s Cathedral, back in 2022, they were booed when arriving to the services.

Princess Kate, Prince William and Prince Harry hold the top three spots in the poll, with Meghan and Charles tied for fourth.

Wiliam came in second with 40 percent of voters saying they liked him and 12 percent saying they disliked him, giving him a net approval rating of plus 28, which also marks a three point drop.

Harry wasn’t far behind, with a 42 percent voting positive and 18 percent voting negative, with a net approval of plus 24.

He dropped two points since February.
