Girl, 11, raped in London park after 'vile' predator befriended her
'Manipulative' predator Abbas Alsaed, 28, from London, raped and sexually assaulted a vulnerable child.
A sexual predator who subjected an 11-year-old girl to repeated rapes has been jailed for 14 years. Abbas Alsaed, 28, of Kingsbury, London, pleaded guilty to eight counts of rape and sexual assault at Harrow Crown Court on December 1 last year.
Detective Constable Qamar Islam from the North West Command Unit said: "Alsaed is a dangerous and manipulative individual who took advantage of a vulnerable child in order to carry out terrible crimes, which will live with the victim forever."
Alsaed was sentenced on Wednesday, added to the Sex Offenders Register and had a Sexual Harm Prevention Order imposed on him for life.
He carried out his sick crimes between May 2021 and June 2022 in woods at Fryent Country Park, Wembley.
Alsaed approached the youngster, claiming he was a child protection officer, and befriended her before taking her mobile phone number.
He groomed the girl before luring her to a part of the park where he raped and sexually assaulted her.
Police closed in on him when concerns were raised by a staff member at the girl's school, though officers' initial attempts to arrest him were thwarted.
Alsaed had told the police he would hand himself in, but instead he fled the country.
Detectives from Scotland Yard's Predatory Offender Unit launched a manhunt for Alsaed and after a number of enquiries, tracked him down to the Netherlands from where officers believed he was planning to travel on to Iraq.
He was finally arrested at St. Pancras Station in London on August 15 as Alsaed made a return trip to the UK.
Alsaed was interviewed and later charged with eight counts of rape and sexual assault before being remanded in custody.
Det Cons Islam said: "I would like to commend the courage and bravery of the victim, who after enduring such traumatic abuse, spoke with officers and found the strength to assist with this investigation."
He added that Alsaed's crimes were reported to the Met in June 2022 and resulted in an arrest less than two months later.
The officer said: "A successful investigation ensued due to diligent and efficient work by a number of officers involved in this case.
"I truly hope that the result today will reassure victims of rape and sexual assault that we will do everything within our power to investigate and prosecute predatory men at the earliest possible opportunity."
Pc Grace Wilson, a Sexual Offences Investigation Trained Officer (SOIT), said: "This has been an extremely distressing time for the victim and her family and I have been encouraged by their unwavering bravery.
"They have supported the investigation throughout, even when the case was adjourned on several occasions.
"The strength of the girl to carry on and keep going after several setbacks has left me in awe of her determination."
Pc Wilson added: "I echo this determination and am pleased we have finally achieved justice for the victim and that a predatory offender is behind bars.
"We encourage any person who is a victim of rape or sexual assault, regardless of when it occurred, to report it to police.
"We will treat your allegations seriously, we will listen to you and we will support you throughout the process."
