Tourists have been issued a warning over 10 dates when they should not visit certain UK cities over the summer.

The Taylor Swift effect on hotel and Airbnb prices is all thanks to her sellout The Eras Tour which is set to kick off in the UK on June 7.

Her huge pop influence means that she is set to send the cost of accommodation in some cities absolutely soaring when she arrives later this year.

Now new data has revealed which stops on Taylor Swift’s upcoming UK stint of The Eras Tour will prove hardest to get accommodation for - and it’s bad news for Edinburgh.

The analysis was conducted by marketing company Searchbloom, who scored their results based on the popularity of local accommodation last summer and the availability and average cost of currently available Airbnbs and hotels.

When tickets for the tour were first released, fans revealed that their Airbnb hosts started to raise the price of accommodation to capitalise on the surge in demand.

This put many fans off booking a room - but with just 51 days to go until Taylor’s first UK stop in Edinburgh, fans need to get their accommodation organised, or else risk struggling to get home after the show.

It’ll also mean that savvy mini-break seekers might want to avoid the cities as accommodation is more likely to be unaffordable or unavailable - as well as there likely to be huge demands for taxis, public transport, bars and restaurants.

This is particularly true for fans planning to attend the June 8 show in Edinburgh as this was revealed to be the stop with the lowest likelihood of securing accommodation.

The average room across Expedia, booking.com and Airbnb priced at a staggering £686.67 for a one-night stay on that date - 104 percent more than the average across all tour stops (£336).

It’s also not great news for fans planning to see Taylor Swift in Edinburgh the night before, as this ranks as the second-hardest stop to get accommodation. The one-night stay cost is higher (£689.67), making it the most expensive UK stop.

The third hardest stop to get accommodation is the June 22 at Wembley, with visitors staying longer in London than any of the other cities last summer, at 4.1 days. There are 183 rooms available at an average of £248.33 per night.

While this is nearly two-thirds (64 percent) cheaper than the costliest date in Edinburgh, most Airbnb options are a room within an occupied home, which may put off fans.

The ten hardest The Eras Tour dates to secure accommodation for - including tour stop, average nightly stay price and average number of accommodation options.

1. Edinburgh - 8th June, £686.67, 117

2. Edinburgh - 7th June, £689.67, 147

3. Wembley - 22nd June, £248.33, 183

4. Wembley - 21st June, £236.00, 198

5. Wembley - 17th August, £226.33, 230

6. Wembley - 16th August, £228.67, 235

7. Wembley - 15th August, £221.67, 243

8. Wembley - 19th August, £207.33, 273

9. Wembley - 23rd June, £207.33, 277

10. Wembley - 20th August, £205.00, 280

On the other end of the scale, the easiest date to find accommodation is the first date in Liverpool, on June 13. This is because an average of 441 rooms are available across the three booking sites at a moderate nightly cost of £301.

Cody Jensen, CEO and founder of Searchbloom, which was behind the study said: “With Taylor Swift’s UK leg of The Eras Tour fast approaching, the time has come for fans to start getting the logistics of travel and accommodation ironed out - especially as it’s likely many will be travelling far from home due to her only visiting four cities.

“For many, the main priority will be cost. It’s an expensive tour to buy tickets, merchandise and an outfit for, so fans will be looking to save money where they can. This provides ample opportunity for Airbnb and hotel owners to now lower their nightly rates to take advantage of the highly anticipated tour dates.

“There are some ways that fans can lower the cost of their tour stop beyond booking as far in advance as possible. This includes using price comparison websites, opting for less central locations, considering alternative accommodations like hostels, or extending your stay to take advantage of multi-night discounts.”
