Breakfast is often deemed the most important meal of the day.

And when it comes to feeling and looking your best what you choose to eat for that early morning chow down is crucial.

Not only does it set the bar for the rest of your day but it can also have a profound effect on your skin, according to one expert.

Simone Thomas writes about wellness on her website simonethomaswellness.com and talks about a game-changing breakfast for your skin’s appearance.

She writes: “The work starts early in the morning with, you guessed it, breakfast!

After all, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Your skin battles numerous challenges and elements every day, it’s time for us to take on some of the workload!”

But, the health expert says that a “McDonald’s brekky every morning is a no-go!”.

Instead, she recommends Yoghurt Parfait - a recipe from Beauty Bites.

She said: “Yoghurt contains probiotic properties which help increase good bacteria, which is beneficial for the entire body and helps to promote clear, beautiful skin, all whilst eliminating acne and creating a brighter, more even skin tone.”

Simone then suggest toppings too for the meal to boost the skin health benefits even further.

She said: “Why not try some fennel seeds? Small but mighty, these little guys pack a punch full of vitamin A, C and E, ideal for oilier skin types and acne prone skin, fighting to eliminate bacteria and dirt build up under the skin.

She added: “If fennel is not your cup of tea, try adding sunflower seeds. 28 grams of sunflower seeds pack a whopping 49 percent of your daily value for Vitamin E, 41 percent for Selenium and 14 percent for Zinc.”

To create the breakfast take just five minutes and you need to combine the below ingredients.

1 cup yogurt

6 walnut halves

½ cup berries of choice

1 tsp honey

optional: some natural almond butter
