Girl, aged 3, swims 10 lengths
DARCY Partington is only three but already making a splash – not content with earning a 25-metre swimming badge she went on to do 200 metres.
Pool onlookers gave her a standing ovation as she completed the 10 lengths at Allestree Woodlands School in Derby on December 19.
Her swimming tutor Sarah Bates normally puts children in for their 200m badge when they are six or seven.
She’s definitely got the potential to become an Olympic swimmer
Sarah said: “She’s definitely got the potential to become an Olympic swimmer.”
Darcy’s father Anthony, 43, said: “The best bit was when she gave a thumbs-up, then carried on.”
Her mother Ellie, 37, said: “She’s amazing.” But perhaps it is not surprising.
Her third cousin is British Olympic swimmer Hannah Miley, 26.
