EXPRESS COMMENT
WE CANNOT CLAIM TO LIVE IN A FAIR SOCIETY ANY MORE
UNFAIR. In a speech to be delivered tomorrow, shadow chancellor George Osborne has put his finger on what so many think about Labour.
People feel increasingly that they are treated unfairly. They see the rewards of their hard work taken in taxes that go on rising inexorably.
Public services, all paid for by taxpayers, are faltering. People were promised a great education system, a world-class health service and a sound economy. None has been delivered.
The gap between the haves and have nots, the deserving and the undeserving, has become palpably greater.
Fecklessness is rewarded by this Government while anyone who strives and saves and does the decent thing is penalised. Pensioners see runaway inflation wiping out any small gains they receive in pension credit.
The sense of unfairness is made worse by the way the State has encroached on people’s lives, prying and snooping and making trouble for the law-abiding while those who fall outside the system can live as they please.
Gordon Brown is apparently hoping to relaunch himself as the champion of fairness. He doesn’t have a hope.
The electorate feels angry and powerless and, as Mr Osborne says, has no faith in the “top-down control policies that have made our country less fair”.
Can the Tories restore fairness to Britain? Someone has to.
FAIR SOCIETY..... !

Is this a ' local society' referred to, just applicable to UK, or is it society in general 'worldwide '. If so it is immoral thinking, what of Jerry Lee lewis when he wanted to play UK some years back ?
If the world is so concerned about G Glitter and his behaviuor toward children worldwide, what of the 'death toll' of children worldwide ! disease, civil unrest, war,........... starvation ? What of UK, feeding dogs/ animals on benefit monies? Is this not 100,000,000000
worse than G Glitter ? Fair society....?

rather depends on what you mean by a fair society. if you mean that everyone should be equally rich, educated, healthy and strong then plainly no society will ever be fair. life just is not fair. why expect it to be?
