David Bentley

DAVID BENTLEY could be on the move again as wheeler-dealer Harry Redknapp prepares for action in the January transfer market.
The Tottenham boss, who has turned around his new club’s fortunes in double-quick time, is uncertain about England wide man Bentley.
Redknapp prefers pace on the wings and could sacrifice the former Arsenal and Blackburn player to generate cash for his own White Hart Lane transfer targets.
Is Khaldoon a United fan?
HARDLY the kind of revelation you want on derby day, but sources in Abu Dhabi insist that Manchester City chairman Khaldoon al Mubarak was until recently a keen Manchester United fan.
Khaldoon, the man who will be instrumental in bringing in City boss Mark Hughes’ transfer targets, used to text friends regularly to see how United were getting on in matches.
A friend of chairman Khaldoon disclosed: “Everybody seemed to follow Manchester United, including Khaldoon... until the takeover.”
Trouble and strife, Mike
IT was bad enough for Grimsby boss Mike Newell on Tuesday night, when Macclesfield fans gave him a hard time.
But things suddenly became a lot worse for the former Blackburn and Everton star, who was under verbal fire from behind his dug-out, when an announcement was made over the Tannoy.
To the delight of the taunting fans, the message boomed out: “Would a Mrs Newell please remove her car? It’s causing an obstruction.” And yes, much to Newell’s embarrassment, it was his missus!
Muddy hell!
Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard, who is celebrating the 10th anniversary of his senior debut, could well have been lending Martin Johnson’s bedraggled England rugby side a hand if things had worked out differently.
Gerrard reveals: “I played rugby union a few times at school. I loved the aggression, being able to get stuck in and the mud.” Watch out Cipriani!
