FORGOTTEN VERSE
Today's verse comes in response to a plea from Mr J W Eardley of Carterton, Oxfordshire. "I'm 84 years old, " he writes, "and I've traced all the poems that I learned as a lad, except one. And I remember only one line:
'Does the road wind uphill all the way?'" Here's all of it, Mr Eardley. The poem is by Christina Rossetti (1830-94), who was the sister of the painter Dante Gabriel Rossetti.
