MP Geert Wilders was turned back at Heathrow in February.

He planned to show an allegedly anti-Muslim film about the Koran at the House of Lords.

But the ruling by the Asylum and Immigration Tribunal means the head of the Dutch Freedom Party is now free to come to Britain.

Critics claimed that the ban was a sop to militant Muslims to show that Islamists were not the only foreign trouble-makers being targeted by bans.

Ms Smith said his presence had the potential to “threaten community harmony and therefore public safety.”

A Home Office spokesman yesterday said the Government was “disappointed.” at the ruling.

Last night Mr Wilders said he planned to come to London as early as next week and show his film.

He added: “It’s not only a victory for me, it is a victory for freedom of speech.”
