Coronation Street: Stephen lunges at Leo after being confronted

Coronation Street youngster Sam (played by Jude Riordan) has been secretly sending Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) letters in the hope to understand why he killed his mother Natasha Blakeman (Rachel Leskovac). Official spoilers have revealed that Leanne (Jane Danson) and Nick (Ben Price) finally find out that Sam has been writing to Harvey, and are left heartbroken when they find out the real reason.

In upcoming scenes, Nick and Sam prepare to mark the anniversary of Natasha’s death, but Leanne heads out to visit Harvey in prison after receiving a mysterious letter from him.

During the visit, Leanne is left stunned when Harvey reveals that it has been Sam who was writing the letters all along, telling Leanne he wants Sam to stop.

When back home, Leanne informs Nick of the information and the pair decide to confront Sam as to why he has been sending the letters.

Afraid of disappointing them, Sam gets upset when he reveals he has done it just because he wants the truth as to why Harvey killed Natasha.

Sam suggests that he will stop writing to Harvey, but only if he can visit him in prison instead, leaving Nick and Leanne horrified.

However, the youngster takes a stand and is adamant that it isn't their decision and that he'll find a way to do it without them.

Later, Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls), Gail Platt (Helen Worth), David Platt (Jack P Shephard), Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien), Leanne and Sam gather in the Bistro for Natasha's memorial lunch.

Nick attempts to make a speech but leaves his son offended before he explains to the family that he wants to meet Harvey and find out why he acted the way he did.

In an attempt to calm him down and steer his focus, Audrey gives him a pep talk and believes she has gotten through to him, leaving Nick relieved.

However, back at No.9, Sam admits to Hope Stape (Isabelle Flanagan) that he has sent another letter to Harvey, and to keep it a secret from his father.

In his prison cell, Harvey opens Sam’s letter and is amused to see that he’s sent him a questionnaire to fill in about his violent past.

If Nick and Leanne find out that Sam is still in contact with Harvey, could they finally let up and take him to visit him in prison?

When Leanne first read the letter from Harvey she was left shaken by the memories of that night.

Could she be the one to take Sam behind Nick's back, knowing how much closure could help him?

If she does decide to help, she may be putting her relationship on the line with Nick as she isn't his biological mother.

There has been no confirmation that Harvey will be returning to Weatherfield, however, Super Soap Week is on the horizon which could see the murderer escape once again.

Many of the residents are still dealing with the repercussions of his terror, such as Amy’s (Elle Mulvaney) boyfriend Jacob (Jack James Ryan).

He has only recently managed to start a new life on the straight and narrow after being groomed into a county lines drug gang.

This also impacted Simon (Alex Bain), who was one of the victims Harvey forced Jacob to pursue.

Will Harvey once again cause mayhem on Weatherfield? Or has Sam's persistence changed his criminal ways?

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
