Holly and Phillip to 'take a break' from This Morning for half-term after 'feud' claims

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield have been all smiles this week as they put on a united front to present This Morning.

This Morning: Phil tries to make Holly laugh

However, after their presenting duties wrap up on Thursday, Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield are set to take a week-long break away from one another for half-term.

As normal, Holly and Phil will be replaced during their time off for the school holidays before returning to This Morning on Monday, June 5.

Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary, who present Friday's show, could fill in for Holly and Phil during their time off.

Their break comes after it was alleged the hosts are feuding with their close friendship at breaking point.

Reports of a fallout came after a source alleged that Holly was upset Phillip hadn't told her about his brother's recent court case.

Each day, ITV viewers have been keen to assess the interactions between the pair and note down any differences in their behaviour.

Despite the spotlight being on their friendship at the moment, it has been usual practice for the presenting duo.

In a statement addressing their friendship, Phil referred to Holly as his "rock" and both of them had been going through a "tough" time.

However, this doesn't seem to be the case anymore with many sources claiming that the pair are barely speaking behind the scenes.

Sources have also claimed to the Daily Mail that ITV bosses are keen to keep Holly as a presenter and Phil is standing firm for his position.

They said: "It's his job, he has steered the show for more than 20 years. [He] doesn't see why he should go."

A source told The Sun Phillip's time is nearly up on the show, but claimed Holly's job will be safe.

Express.co.uk has reached out to Phillip Schofield's and Holly Willoughby's representatives for comment.

The ongoing tension between the stars has meant that the ITV show has suffered a huge blow in its viewing figures.

This Morning reportedly lost 100,000 viewers this week, compared to the week before,- with Monday’s episode seeing ratings fall by 20 per cent to 724,000.

Thankfully, Tuesday’s instalment saw a slightly higher average of 663,000, but it wasn't good news on Wednesday when it saw the most significant change as figures dropped by more than 100,000.

Dermot O'Leary, who presents the show on Friday with Alison Hammond, is the current frontrunner to step into Phillip's shoes.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
