EXCLUSIVE: Coronation Street's Spider Nugent recently left behind the love of his life Toyah Battersby to take on another undercover job, but teased a reunion in the future.

Coronation Street: Ryan leaving Weatherfield

Coronation Street's Spider Nugent star Martin Hancock has teased his character could return to Weatherfield to marry Toyah Battersby (played by Georgia Taylor).

During Wednesday night's episode, Spider decided that the best decision for himself and Toyah was to move away and go back undercover.

Just days after being proposed too, Toyah was kidnapped by a woman named Maggie who had it out for Spider from an old undercover job.

Knowing what risks his job comes with and not wanting to put her in any danger, Spider decided to take the new job and leave her behind once again.

Before he left, Toyah decided to give back the engagement ring but Spider actor Martin Hancock has teased that a wedding is still on the cards.

Speaking to Express.co.uk and other press, Martin expressed: "I think yes, I think it [wedding] would be nice in the future.

"Maybe he will open an upcycling shop or something like that, something along those lines."

Going to say goodbye to Toyah on Wednesday night's episode, she told him: "Can't say I expected to see you today."

He revealed: "To tell you the truth I nearly came back last night," but she snapped back: "But you didn't.

"I think this is all of your stuff and um... you better take this," pulling the ring off of her finger and giving it back to Spider.

"If we find anything else Leanne said she can send it on to you, if you leave an address, if you're allowed to leave an address."

Spider laughed and replied: "Yeah... Leanne is worried about you, I am worried about you," leading Toyah to flip: "She just can't resist sticking her nose in."

Calming her down, Spider insisted: "She loves you, like I do," as Toyah teased: "Well you both have a funny way of showing it."

When touching on if Spider would miss Toyah, Martin explained: "I think he will be desperately sad, desperately sad about the way things have ended.

"At the end of the day whatever version of Spider we are talking about, Spider loves Toyah and so he is bound to feel sad.

"They are both going to feel sad, there is something between those two, a 25-year relationship, of course, they are going to feel gutted that they couldn't make it work this time."

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
