Top Gear: Fans want Formula One driver Jenson Button to replace Chris Evans
WHILE viewers were impressed with last night's episode of Top Gear, many still called for Chris Evans to be replaced.
Jenson Button joined the presenter to test drive a McLaren 675LT and was forced to take over the driving after the 50-year-old began to feel a little worse for wear.
Shortly after the Formula One driver joined the host in the car, he suggested he should take the steering wheel.
He explained: "You alright Chris? Do you want to swap places? Because I REALLY want to swap places!"
As soon as Jenson – who was driving so fast that smoke entered the car – explained its features, viewers took to Twitter to call for the 36-year-old to replace Chris.
Jenson Button smoothly appears on Top Gear
One user asked: "Anyone else wish @JensonButton was the host of #TopGear2016 and not Chris Evans?"
While another added: "Awkward moment when cameo Jenson Button makes a better presenter than the actual presenter on top gear… #TopGear."
A third tweeted: “Replacing Chris Evans with Jenson Button would make #TopGear a million times better.”
Meanwhile another wrote: "We all knew Jenson Button was a much better driver than Chris Evans. Turns out he's a much better presenter too.. #TopGear."
It comes after viewers changed their opinion of the revamped motoring series.
Last week, the show was dubbed a "car crash" but many were impressed by the second offering, as one viewer tweeted: "Actually enjoyed this week’s #TopGear. Evans still a bit OTT but I'm sure he'll tone it down in time."
Another added: "Why didn't they start the season with this episode. So much better than last week.”
Top Gear continues next Sunday at 8pm on BBC Two.
