Ireland stun Zimbabwe in final over victory
IRELAND edged a step closer to qualifying for the World Cup quarter-finals with a thrilling five run victory over Zimbabwe.
An innings of 112 off 103 balls from Ed Joyce and 97 by Andy Belbirnie helped Ireland towards a total of 331, their highest score in a one-day international.
But centuries from Brendan Taylor and Sean Williams took Zimbabwe to within sight of victory, needing seven off the final over.
However they lost their last two wickets and left them unable to qualify of the latter stages.
The result leaves Ireland in fourth place in Pool B, level on points with Pakistan and two ahead of West Indies.
