Martin Brundle is right - F1 is going too woke. The F1 Commission will vote on a new point-scoring system to allow those who finish in 11th and 12th place to secure points from 2025.

Rewards should be reserved for winners or drivers challenging at the front of the grid, not those finishing in the bottom half.

Brundle hit the nail on the head when he tweeted: “Formula One world championship points must be hard won and treasured. Valued. Not some kind of lucky dip where everyone wins a prize.”

The current set-up already stretches down to 10th place, there is no need for it to go further. Every full-time driver scored points last season so it is not impossible for the strugglers to get on the board.

The focus should be shifted to the new regulations and making sure the cars are more closely matched to stop Max Verstappen winning with ease every race. Only that can save the entertainment factor, not watching two drivers battle for 12th place.

EMMA RADUCANU was in a rich vein of form and had every right to try and continue that at the Madrid Open this week. SMELL-GATE has stunk out the Crucible with Hossein Vafaei accusing the World Snooker Championship venue of "smelling really bad." Current and former pros have jumped on the bandwagon to criticise the 29-year-old for his complaints. But where were they when Ronnie O'Sullivan was equally as scathing the previous week?
