But speaking as a pundit on BT Sport, Rooney revealed he has been in contact with people at United and claimed Solskjaer’s appointment has boosted the mood of the whole club.
Rooney said: “I speak to them quite a lot and I think to be a successful football club you need everything to be right.
“You need the staff at the training ground to be right. The groundsmen need to feel happy and that rubs off on the players.
“And that relationship between some staff and some players wasn't great.

“But bringing Ole in, Mike [Phelan]in, that already has changed [things].
“They are smiling, they are happy and that rubs off on the players.
“The staff are smiling and happy and that rubs off on the players.
“I think it’s a good move for the club.
