Liverpool have 'excellent' chance of winning league says Parlour
That is according to Sky Sports pundit and former Arsenal and England forward Paul Merson.
Liverpool have fallen to second in the Premier League table following Sunday’s goalless draw at Merseyside rivals Everton.
A week earlier they had suffered the same result at Old Trafford against Manchester United.
That has allowed Manchester City to return to the top of the table, with Pep Guardiola’s side currently sitting one point clear with nine games remaining.
I think you’ll look back come what may and go ‘Everton away and Man United away were two massive, massive draws, two big results’
Paul Merson on Liverpool
City are favourites to retain the title they won so comfortably last season.
But Merson is still backing Liverpool to win the top-flight crown for the first time since 1990.
And he reckons the two points won at United and Everton will prove vital.
“I’m going for the history, I’m going to go for Liverpool,” Merson said.

“I think you’ll look back come what may and go ‘Everton away and Man United away were two massive, massive draws, two big results’.
“I was lucky enough to win the league twice, we had a melt, we had a proper melt against Liverpool. They caught us and we ended up winning it.
“But you learn, as you go on, when you don’t play well, make sure you don’t lose.
“Them points mount up and it mounts up and it mounts up.

“Them two points means they’re a point behind. Otherwise they’re three points behind and it’s good night, if they’d have lost both of them.
“For me I’m going to go Liverpool still.
“I think they’ll find that form and Man City have got so many big games.
“I think at the end of the day if they get to the semi-final of the Champions League, I think the Champions League will be their priority, in my opinion.”
Liverpool will aim to return to winning ways on Sunday when they host Burnley at Anfield.
