Who could be Man Utd's next summer signing? 40 transfer targets analysed, ranked and rated
MANCHESTER UNITED have been linked with an host of potential transfer targets during the summer window, but which players are most likely to arrive at Old Trafford?
Man United: Pundit names THREE players to ‘improve’ squad
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to conduct a major overhaul of his first-team squad this summer after a disappointing end to the 2018/19 campaign.
The United manager oversaw an immediate upturn in form following his appointment in December but couldn’t prevent a dismal run of just two wins in 13 matches during the run-in.
The Old Trafford hierarchy are expected to make funds available for plenty of new signings this summer, with United having already been linked with over 60 potential targets.
Express Sport have taken a look at 40 of the most high-profile names reportedly set to join United so far this transfer window, but what is the likelihood of each player signing?
40. Idrissa Gueye (Everton) – 1/10 likelihood of signing
United pursued the Toffees midfielder early in the transfer window but interest has cooled in the £40m man – although a bid could be still made if Paul Pogba departs.
39. Declan Rice (West Ham United) – 1/10
Plenty of reports about a switch earlier in the summer but Solskjaer appears to have accepted that a deal will not happen.
38. Ivan Rakitic (Barcelona) – 1/10
Brief talk of a £48m move was rubbished after Rakitic himself insisted he was happy at Barcelona, although that didn’t stop the Croatian from being linked with Inter Milan.
37. Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund) – 1/10
A top target before the window opened but Sancho is settled in Dortmund and will stay put.
36. Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace) – 1/10
Zaha didn’t have great success at Old Trafford the first time around and fanciful talk of a return has died rapidly, especially with United missing out on Champions League football.

35. Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid) – 1.5/10
Almost certain to join Barcelona, but stranger things have happened in football.
34. Philippe Coutinho (Barcelona) – 2/10
Chelsea want the Brazilian but their transfer ban could leave the way open for United to move in – if they want to pay his huge wages.
Still difficult to imagine the former Liverpool star in a United shirt.
33. Sean Longstaff (Newcastle United) – 2/10
Enjoyed a breakthrough season with the Magpies and has attracted plaudits for his no-nonsense approach in the middle of the park, but a £25m move to Old Trafford seems far-fetched.
32. Jerome Boateng (Bayern Munich) – 2.5/10
Told he can leave Bayern for just £15m this summer and would add some steel to the Red Devils rearguard, but nowhere near a top defensive target.
31. Jasper Cillessen (Barcelona) – 2.5/10
Second choice at the Nou Camp and open to the idea of moving, although the Dutch keeper would only arrive at United if David de Gea leaves and even then, Solskjaer may be put off by Barcelona’s steep asking price.

30. Jan Oblak (Atletico Madrid) – 2.5/10
Put pen to paper on a new deal in April and would cost an extortionate sum to prise him away from Atletico.
However, the stopper has consistently been linked with a move to England and would be United’s first choice as a replacement for their current No 1.
29. Steven Bergwijn (PSV Eindhoven) – 3/10
Tottenham are leading the way in the pursuit of the £35m winger, although United are a realistic option despite his agent saying he would prefer a move to Italy.
28. Thomas Meunier (Paris Saint-Germain) – 3/10
Heavily linked with Arsenal in recent weeks and seems to have emerged as a target mainly because United need a right-back and other clubs are interested.
Arsenal, Watford and Southampton are also in for the £26m-rated centre-back, who is way down the list of potential United targets.
24. Moussa Dembele (Lyon) – 3.5/10
Supposedly the subject of a £35m bid but is not expected to join unless Romelu Lukaku moves to Inter Milan – in which case there are several other targets higher up United’s wishlist.
A bust-up with Diego Simeone has seen a host of clubs enquire after Saul, but Atletico may still demand the £130m release clause is met so United will only move if the Spaniard comes in as a replacement for Pogba.

20. Toby Alderweireld (Tottenham Hotspur) – 4/10
Linked on several occasions over the past few seasons and available for just £25m after a clause in his contract was triggered, but United are now looking elsewhere.
Would still be a huge surprise though with a number of other marquee signings more likely.
18. Nicolas Pepe (Lille) – 4/10
Almost guaranteed to leave Lille this summer but Arsenal and Liverpool have also been strongly linked.
17. Alex Sandro (Juventus) – 4/10
Like Dybala, Sandro is not expected to arrive for a straightforward fee and is much more likely to move as a makeweight for Pogba.
16. Matthijs de Ligt (Ajax) – 4.5/10
Juventus and Barcelona are monitoring the Ajax captain so it will be a tall order to entice him to Old Trafford with no Champions League football on offer.

15. Mauro Icardi (Inter Milan) – 4.5/10
Romelu Lukaku could leave this summer but Inter are reluctant to lose their star striker in a player-plus-cash swap deal, despite dressing room unrest in Milan.
Less of a headline signing than the likes of Felix and Bruno Fernandes but more likely because of that, although the Red Devils face plenty of competition from Premier League rivals.
9. Eric Dier (Tottenham Hotspur) – 6/10
Being lined up as an alternative to Rice after Solskjaer admitted defeat concerning the West Ham ace, and is more likely to move after a tough season without a consistent run in the Spurs team.
Also linked with Manchester City, but Maguire is a certain starter at United and is more attainable than the likes of De Ligt.
6. Adrien Rabiot (Paris Saint-Germain) – 6.5/10
A free agent this summer and would provide a ready-made replacement for Ander Herrera, although Arsenal and Liverpool are just two rivals monitoring the Frenchman.

5. Gareth Bale (Real Madrid) – 7/10
An outright move would be a surprise but a loan switch has been mooted, with United one of the few clubs able to match the Real Madrid star’s wage demands.
4. Ruben Dias (Benfica) – 7/10
A mainstay of the Portugal squad and thought to be available for little over £50m, with United likely to turn to the 22-year-old if a move for Kalidou Koulibaly falls through.
3. Aaron Wan-Bissaka (Crystal Palace) – 7.5/10
A price-tag of £50m has seen United baulk slightly, although they are in dire need of reinforcements at right-back and are expected to seriously pursue the Palace youngster.
2. Bruno Fernandes (Sporting Lisbon) – 8/10
Manchester City and Liverpool are also in for the Portuguese star but United appear to be in the driving seat with reports of a £70m deal being agreed.
1. Kalidou Koulibaly (Napoli) – 8.5/10
United have reportedly already tabled a bid of £84million for the Senegalese centre-back and are likely to continue plugging away until they get their man.
