The three reasons Barcelona ace Ousmane Dembele refused to join PSG as part of Neymar deal
Ousmane Dembele was heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer but chose to stay with Barcelona instead of trading places with Neymar.
During the summer, the possibility of a swap deal between PSG and Barcelona involving Dembele and Neymar was widely reported.
However, the Frenchman’s desire to succeed at the Catalan club has seemingly not wavered, and according to L’Equipe, there are multiple reasons as to why Dembele chose to stay.
Dembele is looking at individual accolades, as well as team accolades, as he believes that their is more chance of him winning the prestigious Ballon d’Or award for the best player on earth.
Some may argue that it would be extremely tough at Barcelona, with five-time winner Lionel Messi also in the squad.
However, Messi is not a young player, meaning that Dembele may be able to step into the limelight when Messi’s playing ability decreases due to age, or he retires.

Ousmane Dembele has a ‘lack of structure’ claims pundit
At 22, Dembele may see his opportunity to win the Ballon d’Or come in the future, with Messi currently at age 32.
Furthermore, Barcelona is apparently the club the Dembele has always dreamed of playing for.
Obviously major aspirations to play for the Catalan club will always be a massive pull for Dembele, contributing to his reasoning for remaining with Barcelona.
Dembele was also not afraid of any potential threats to his place, including if Brazilian superstar Neymar had rejoined the club during the summer in an unconnected transfer.
Dembele is currently injured, along with superstar Messi, and Barcelona have struggled at the start of the season, with Ernesto Valverde’s men currently sitting eighth in La Liga with just four points from three games.
