Lionel Messi: Barcelona star handed Golden Shoe award in 2019
Lionel Messi fans have hailed the Barcelona icon's son Matteo after the youngster stole the show when handing his father a sixth European Golden Shoe.
The Argentinian forward has presented with the award in Barcelona on Wednesday after netting 36 times in La Liga last term.
The 32-year-old beat PSG ace Kylian Mbappe and Sampdoria's Fabio Quagliarella to the prize, which is given to the highest scorer in all of Europe's top leagues.
It's the fourth time in succession that a Barca star has scooped the award, with Messi clinching it for a third successive year after team-mate Luis Suarez claimed the title in 2015-16.
All eyes were on Messi as he collected the trophy, but attentions quickly turned to two of his three sons, Matteo and Thiago, who joined him at the event.
The pair were entrusted with handing the award to their father, with Mateo in particular keen to get his hands on the glistening prize.
And, after handing the Golden Shoe over, Mateo was seen licking his lips as he stared at the award, sparking a raft of comments from fans.

While another agreed: "Mateo the future goat."
A third fan added: "This kid is unstoppable."
"I just love this kid," put another, while one supporter wrote: "I am a part of Mateo FC."
Cristiano Ronaldo fans also hailed the youngster after giving his dad the award.
