And Liverpool icon Nicol claimed on ESPN FC that the Blues will suffer if they go deep into the Champions League, because Saturday’s result shows they don’t have enough strength in depth.
Chelsea are hoping they will be able to overturn their transfer ban and bring in a few new faces in January.
But Nicol explained that if they don’t, their season could be severely impacted.
“I think for Chelsea the problems will start if they go deep into the Champions League,” he said.
