Mikel Arteta will travel with the Manchester City squad to Oxford tomorrow for the Carabao Cup quarter-final, according to Pep Guardiola, despite interest at Arsenal to become the new manager at the Emirates Stadium.

Manchester City coach Mikel Arteta will be travelling with the squad for Wednesday’s match against Oxford United, Pep Guardiola has confirmed. The manager admitted that Arteta has spoken with Arsenal about the vacant role, but there’s no update on his position at the club.

“Mikel is travelling to Oxford with us tomorrow,” said Guardiola, ahead of the Carabao Cup quarter-final tie against Oxford United.
“We were so smart to pick him up and the other clubs missed it.
“He’s an incredible person, good manager. Work ethic. That’s why he is what he is.
“He’s talking with Arsenal so I don’t know.”
