Man Utd transfer boost as Chelsea make decision on £120m Jadon Sancho January deal
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been handed a major boost in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho, as Chelsea have decided their stance on making a bid for the England international.
Man Utd: Nicol warns Sancho to ‘stay away’ from United
Manchester United have edged ahead of Chelsea in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho. Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has decided to cool his interest in the deal, as he considers signing a striker a higher priority.
Chelsea had been linked with a shock move to sign Sancho from Dortmund in January, after their transfer embargo was lifted.
The Blues were told that Sancho would cost them £120million by the Bundesliga side.
But, on reflection, Chelsea have decided that they have greater priorities in the transfer market, and are willing to wait until the summer to make their move, according to The Sun.
Chelsea’s stance on the deal will be a major boost to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is keen to sign Sancho to bolster United’s hopes to finishing in the top four of the Premier League.

Meanwhile, United are reportedly still interested in signing Sancho.
Solskjaer bought £15million Daniel James in the summer, who plays in the same position as the England international.
But, Sancho has reportedly made it clear that he wants to move to a side who are in the Champions League.
With Dortmund choosing not to sell this month, United’s chance of securing Sancho hinges on their qualification for next season’s Champions League.

Liverpool legend Steve Nicol has warned Sancho that he wouldn’t necessarily be handed a place in the starting XI at Stamford Bridge.
“Listen, the fact that Jadon Sancho might leave Dortmund I think is a huge possibility,” he told ESPN.
“I just can’t figure out why it would be Chelsea. You’ve got [Christian] Pulisic, you’ve got [Callum] Hudson-Odoi there, you’ve got Mason Mount - why are you bringing this guy in? It makes no sense.
“If I’m Jadon Sancho and I’m looking at Chelsea, I’m asking myself one question: ‘Am I going to go to Chelsea and start?’. That makes no sense whatsoever. Sancho’s not a long-term guy now - he needs to play.”
