Premier League title race: Man City maintain healthy lead at top
Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly ‘lying in wait’ for Serge Gnabry as both sides hold the same belief they can prise the attacker away from Bayern Munich. Gnabry is out of contract in the summer of 2023, but talks over a new deal have stalled in recent months.

According to Sky Germany, the problem is due to Bayern refusing to match Gnabry’s salary demands.
The two sides are said to be ‘far apart’ in their negotiations, though Bayern are still confident he will sign a new deal.
Gnabry does not want to earn any less than fellow Munich stars Kingsley Coman and Leory Sane, who are believed to earn more than £12.5million per season.
But Bayern are said to be unwilling to fulfil those demands, which has caused concern that he could follow Niklas Sule out of the exit door.

Putting pressure on Bayern is the fact that Gnabry ‘knows his value’ and is not tied to staying in Munich.
While he is not yet pushing for a free transfer in 18 months, the upcoming summer window represents the last opportunity for Bayern to bring in a fee for him.
Letting him leave for nothing is said to be the ‘worst case’ scenario for Bayern, with Nagelsmann having frequently stated his desire for the winger to stay.
But with the club’s hierarchy so far refusing to pay Gnabry what he believes he is worth, a return to the Premier League certainly appears to be on the cards.
