He said: “That’s the utopia isn’t it, trying to compete with the Old Firm. But while that might seem a distance away, there are steps you can take.
“Can we progress, can we find a consistency that gets us above the teams around us? I think that is the first step.
“At some point a club develops, Porto developed in Portugal and became European champions.
“You have to have that ultimate dream that you can go forward but a lot of things will have to slip into place and the one thing is the development of the players at the club. The infrastructure here looks tremendously sound.”
