The striker, whose only goal this season had come in the League Cup in August, scored from the penalty spot in the first half and tapped home after Jake Kean’s fumble in the second, either side of Jake Forster-Caskey’s header.
The Seagulls, though, were indebted to goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak, who pulled off a number of flying saves to deny Blackburn.

Kuszczak palmed Tommy Spurr’s first-half header from Tom Cairney’s free kick over the bar.
Blackburn manager Gary Bowyer said: “Did the scoreline flatter them? I think so.
“Who was their man of the match? Their goalkeeper.”
