Arsene Wenger going through the motions against Stoke last weekend
The Gunners were woefully exposed during their 3-2 defeat to Stoke last Saturday, and it has been identified by many as an area they need to improve in.
Arsenal take on an in-form Newcastle tomorrow (5:30pm), with Alan Pardew's side coming off the back of a surprise 2-1 win at home to Chelsea.
Wenger admitted his side's defending wasn't great and claims that clubs are normally judged on their last performances.
"It's part of the modern game. You are always judged on your last game," he said.
"At Stoke we didn't defend well."

Arsenal went some way to tackling their defensive issues in midweek when they brushed aside Galatasaray in Istanbul to finish second in their Champions League group.
Wenger is under no illusions about the rigours of juggling Champions League and Premier League football, and stressed that the emphasis ahead of the Newcastle test is all about recovery.
He added: "The sessions are all about recovery, recovery, recovery. We have already played eight Champions League games this season.
"We have learned to cope with that over the years. Remember the Galatasaray match was my 180th Champions League game as a manager.
"How many Champions League games did Arsenal play before I arrived? It was very few."
