Paul Lambert was happy to be sacked by Aston Villa
While Villa’s struggles continued this weekend with a 4-0 defeat to Manchester City, the Scot’s new club Blackburn cruised to a 3-0 win at Oxford to make the FA Cup fifth round.
And a fit, healthy and relaxed Lambert insists he could not be happier.
The 46-year-old took the Ewood Park job in November after enjoying a new lease of life in nine months away from the game.
The big games at the Kassam Stadium come thick and fast for Oxford who will look to protect a 2-0 first leg lead against Millwall in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tomorrow and set up a Wembley date Tuesday.
“It's been a very good FA Cup run for us,” defender Johnny Mullins. “We're disappointed but we have a massive game on Tuesday and have one hell of a chance.”
