The 25-year-old was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in the summer with Arsenal said to be interested in the centre-back.
And the Gunners are apparently now keeping tabs on his situation in Italy after he rejected a new deal at Roma.
Italian outlet Calcio Mercato claim Manolas, who is contracted to the club until 2019, was offered an improved deal worth £2.2million a season but expected a higher salary.

Arsenal on red alert after Kostas Manolas rejected a new deal at Roma
The Serie A side are still in talks over an improved contract with Manolas, but he could leave the club if they fail to meet his demands.
And this could play into the hands of Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
It is claimed the Gunners had a £35.7m bid for the Greece international knocked back in August, with Roma unwilling to sell him because they would have had to hand half of the fee to his former club Olympiakos.
But this clause has now apparently lapsed.
And Spanish outlet Sportsuggest Arsenal could swoop for Manolas again if their captain Per Mertesacker leaves the Emirates next summer.
However, the Gunners will reportedly face competition for his signature with Barcelona and Manchester City also running the rule over Manolas.
