“Will sign on loan with Sunderland until the summer.”
Clarke-Salter spent time on loan with Bristol Rovers last season, making 12 appearances in League One.
He also impressed last summer as part of the England Under-20 World Cup-winning side in South Korea.
Stamford Bridge legend Terry has spoken highly of the young centre-half in the past and claimed he sees him as his natural successor.
“Jake has a great attitude," Terry said.
"I remember watching him a couple of years ago being in control of the game and a really vocal player.
"He reminds me a bit of myself.
“He is doing great and I hope he goes on to take my position and get in the first team.”
