Paul Mariner predicts Toby Alderweireld to leave Tottenham

Those are the thoughts of former Arsenal forward turned pundit Paul Mariner.

Alderweireld is out of contract at Tottenham at the end of next season.

The Belgium international has been linked with a move away in order to prevent him leaving on a free transfer in 2019.

Manchester United and Chelsea are two clubs rumoured to be keen on the centre-back, as are Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.

It’s seems as though he’s stalling or the club’s stalling on a contract for him. So I would be a bit annoyed with the club to be honest

When asked of the PSG interest, Mariner said Alderweireld is good enough to play for anyone in the world.

And the pundit advised him to leave after Tottenham failed to meet his wage demands with a contract offer.

“He can go anywhere he wants this guy,” Mariner told ESPN FC.

“I think he is fantastic. Unfortunately he has been inured this season, I think Tottenham have definitely missed him.

Mariner says Toby Alderweireld will be annoyed with Tottenham and should leave

“Like I say, I’m not being flippant, he can go and play where he wants.

“He’s a good defender, good with his feet, can build out the back with it. I like him a lot.

“For him, it’s seems as though he’s stalling or the club’s stalling on a contract for him.

“So I would be a bit annoyed with the club to be honest. I say ‘get yourself going mate’.”
